Police and Working Canines require expertise, handling skills, and the ability to work together with both the Canine and its handler.  Rocky Point Animal Hospital is sought on a regional level for its expertise in handling working canines.  Respect is given to both the Canine and its Handler as to how procedures and exams should be performed.  With a competitive background in IPO dog sport, the staff under the guidance of Dr. Joni, is very familiar working with  Belgian Malinois,  German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Doberman.

Behavior Services

With extensive knowledge of working canines comes a staff that is very knowledgeable in canine behavior.  Rocky Point Animal Hospital is an expert in treating and working with aggressive dogs, ranging from dominance aggression to fear aggression. Many times patients who have always required sedation for nail trims, ear cleaning, exams, etc. come to us for care utilizing operant conditioning and positive reinforcement techniques.  Very rarely is sedation needed! Please call us if you are in needed of behavioral consulting, or have a unique pet that is not typically accepting of conventional veterinary care. We can help!
